The Department of Finance (DOF) holds public events to help renters and property owners with benefit programs and property taxes.

You can attend events to:

  • Learn about programs to help you save money
  • Apply for or renew benefits
  • Understand how the City assesses and values property and determines property taxes
  • Speak one-on-one with DOF staff to resolve issues

The Department of Finance and the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) hold outreach events to provide owners with one-on-one assistance with lien sale questions and issues.

You can learn about the Annual Notice of Property Value (NOPV) and how the City assesses and values your property at a virtual event.

At NOPV events, you can:

  • Learn about the information on the NOPV and why it’s important
  • Learn how to dispute your property’s assessed value
  • Learn how to get your property description changed
  • Learn about exemptions and how to apply for them
